"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
I was 13 when the first Snoopy vs the Red Baron was released. I was too old to admit it to my friends, but I really liked that song, and sang along every time I heard it on the radio. Which was often, so I knew the lyrics by heart. And after looking it up on YouTube, it seems I still remember, as most of it came back to me as I watched the video.
ReplyDeleteThis Christmas version came out a year later, but by then the idea of a cartoon dog fighting in WW I seemed a bit childish to a mature 14 yo. :-)
Wait. Are you saying Snoopy really wasn't a WWI flying ace?
ReplyDeleteMedia reports at the time of Snoopy's heroics are questionable, at best. Perhaps like the reports that 73 percent of covid cases in the US are now due to the Omicron variant, only three weeks after the first case was reported. Yeah, that's believable.
ReplyDeleteIs it spreading over the internet?
I'd forgotten about that Christmas song. Thanks for that, it cheered me up immensely. I've noticed there a lot of old Christmas songs on the radio that I hadn't heard lately: Frosty the Snowman, Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer. Curse you, Red Baron, and merry Christmas to all!
ReplyDeleteI always loved the Peanut shows where Snoopy flew his Sopwith Camel into battle...
