Didn't know this...

...probably because I don't watch any of the so-called "news" channels. Anyhow, I knew Chris Wallace was a leftist hack masquerading as a "fair" newsman, and have always considered him to be one of the most contemptible weasels in the mainstream media; but what I didn't know was how badly he actually stunk up the place over at Fox when it came to ratings, as John Nolte points out.

For nearly 20 years, Chris Wallace has been the one and only Fox News name brutalized in the ratings. Last week is a perfect example:

Face the Nation: 2.8 million viewers.
Meet the Press: 2.6 million
This Week: 2.5 million
Fox News Sunday: 1.2 million

So I’m not accused of cherry-picking, here are the ratings for the 2020-2021 season:

Face the Nation: 3.4 million
Meet the Press: 3.3 million
This Week: 3.1 million
Fox News Sunday: 1.3 million

It makes me wonder whether leaving Fox was really his own idea.

  1. Chris Wallace visited my office many years ago (before he worked for Fox News). Hilarity ensued.

  2. But you have to ask: if Wallace was that bad for 20 years, what's wrong with Fox that they kept him on that long?

Rebecca: No doubt there are some at Fox (owners and/or very high-up execs) who liked keeping him on because, in reality, they liked his lefty politics, and the shifty way he managed to put his spin across (faux gravitas, newsman-nerdish mask, occasional criticisms of Democrats for the purpose of sustaining the illusion of impartiality - much less alarming to Fox's traditional audience than the shrieking, kneejerk Bolsheviks at MSNBC, CNN, etc.).
