Great find in Australia

Although, if it had been me, I would never have mentioned it to anybody: kids find a sawed-off shotgun and a machine gun while poking around in the bush in Western Australia.

  1. When we lived in Guam in '66-7 my brother found a Japanese light machine gun in the boonies. It was a solid mass of rust, but working with some sandpaper and 3-in-1 oil he managed to get the safety to move.

Needless to say we did not mention it to our parents. He kept it wrapped up under his bed and gave it to another kid when we transferred off the island. I like to think that it's still there, passed from kid to kid unknown to the parents after all these years.

  2. Happy New Year, Rebecca!

Yeah, I would have kept quiet.

    Bummer.

  3. Stephen: That's an intriguing thought; something passed down secretly from kid to kid over the generations.

  4. Stephen, that's cool.
I hope it is still being passed down, that would be great for your fort in the jungle.
