Hilarious. The Washington Post is looking for a reporter to cover the political right in the United States.
Sounds like an exciting assignment for an intrepid journalist who's willing to venture into uncharted flyover country.
"Shhh! Jennifer, listen! I'm sure I heard a Republican out there somewhere!"
Ha, nice snark Paco. But you must have missed the bit about the position is located in their home office and not subject to remote work.
ReplyDeleteCan't cover Deplorableville by actually going there and talking to the residents, can you? No, the way to do it is from the WaPo break room, and the Starbucks on the corner, and maybe from that cute little bistro down the block. You can gather all the research and quotes you need by interviewing the locals there.
No, I saw that, but I assumed that just because the reporter would have a regular office, it didn't mean that he (or she, as the case may be) wouldn't be able to do some occasional on-the-ground investigative work in the savage wilderness of, say, Amarillo or Green Bay.
ReplyDeleteBut, you're right; much safer to let this person draw her (or perhaps, his) conclusions from the safe wokeness of the Washington office.
No reason Tom Friedman should have a monopoly on the smart articulate cabbies. And there are plenty of woke eight year olds on the subway to quote.
