Or at least his ideological descendant: "Leftist millennial wins election as Chile’s next president".
Boric, 35, would become Chile’s youngest modern president. He was among several activists elected to Congress in 2014 after leading protests for higher quality education. If elected, he said, he will “bury” the neoliberal economic model left by Pinochet and raise taxes on the “super rich” to expand social services, fight inequality and boost protections of the environment.
People rarely learn from history. There's just an endless learning of hard truths from scratch - until the next generation of gullible, unthinking idiots comes along. Chile is not, of course, unique in this; I have but to look around me to see the cultural, political and economic devastation the Democratic Party has wrought in the U.S. Yes, that party has mastered the art of cheating in elections, but the bulk of votes it gets is probably legitimate, and shows how everything from the public school system to the bureaucracies to the military to the churches to the huge corporations has been corrupted by the towering, toxic mendacity of the Left, and its long march through the institutions, here and abroad. There is more than a little of the diabolic evident in this proliferation of cult-like blindness to reality and human nature, in the swelling urge to do violence to those who do not toe the line, in the desire to lord it over one's fellow citizens. Well, there is a time for peace and a time for war, and the friends of liberty and sanity must guard against getting caught unawares.
"You're on your own this time, compadres."
I also just saw that the pro-Bejing candidates swept the Hong Kong elections...
ReplyDeleteShocked much?
DeleteThe more things change, the more they stay the same.
ReplyDeleteTom: Sounds like a rock solid honest election in Hong Kong.
ReplyDeleteBejing weeded out about all of the pro-democracy candidates, so it was a sham election. All of the pro-democracy voters stayed home as a protest. Thirty percent voter turnout so, yeah, it was a "fair election". The pro-Bejing mayor was so happy they didn't vote, she looked like she was going to wet herself.
