Not all billionaires are content to serve as tools of the state

Updated and bumped. My post should not be taken as an endorsement of Elon Musk's Tesla car company. This guy doesn't endorse it either: "Man explodes Tesla after mechanics charge $23K for a new battery"

Elon Musk, for example:

“It does not make sense to take the job of capital allocation away from people who have demonstrated great skill in capital allocation, and give it to an entity that has demonstrated very poor skill in capital allocation, which is the government.”
Musk added, “Government is simply the biggest corporation, with the monopoly on violence.”

  1. He oughta know about gov't demonstrating poor allocation skill since he gets $billions from the gov't to do uneconomic things, like make the most polluting vehicles made that more Kill The Planet! than Save It!.

  2. All billionaires are, to some extent, rent-seeking parasites and hypocrites; however, some are less obnoxious than others, and certainly more amusing.

  3. $23,000?!? Wow, and we complained about spending little less than $200 to have a car battery replaced.

Tesla owners are just status-seeking guinea pigs in a big experiment. I think it's smarter not to follow a fad until they've perfected the technology, which I guess is where Tesla guinea pigs come in.

  4. If the link didn't have a link to the YouTube video of HPC blowing up the Tesla: Exploding Tesla

HPC is Hydraulic Press Channel. If you haven't seen it, check it out. It's pretty entertaining if you like to see stuff crushed in a 500 ton press, or as in this case, blown up with whatever explosives it takes to do the job. The man & his wife (and the guy with the Tesla) are from Finland.
I also watch a European rally car racing channel, and the races from Finland have the...uh, weirdest fans. Finland seems fun, tho.

  5. Oh, if you don't want to hear the story, and watch all the preparations, start at the 6:55 minute mark.

  6. Before Tesla the highest priced battery was for a Prius. Five thousand is chump change to the Tesla crowd. Remember when five grand was news.
