He didn't say 'pew pew' either.
ReplyDeletePerhaps, every time a gun had to be fired by Baldwin's character, he hollered "stunt man!" and some other fellow actually did the bangy business.
ReplyDeleteIf Baldwin was using an authentic replica of a cowboy gun (a single action, six shot revolver), his statement is counterproductive, not to mention outright bulls**t.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that you know, Paco, that's because such a pistol has to be manually cocked, a deliberate action of pulling back the hammer. Once cocked, the pistol would have a hair trigger. So either he's lying through his teeth (Baldwin IS a liberal, after all), or someone handed him a cocked AND loaded pistol (possible, but highly unlikely).
If the pistol was double action, he's STILL lying, for the reasons above, PLUS the trigger pull would be noticeable.
In any event, this creep is still RESPONSIBLE for a negligent discharge. The pistol was in his hand at the time.
Yeah, I know, I know. Logic, lefties, etc. But it had to be said.
Maybe he had one stunt man cock the pistol for him, and another one pull the trigger.
ReplyDeleteYes, I just don't see how a single-action revolver goes off, when it's under his control, without him pulling the trigger (and cocking it first, of course).
Unless he dropped the damned thing; the firing pin on an old-school revolver is mounted on the hammer, and if the hammer was resting on an unfired round, and the gun was jarred in some way - as by dropping it - it might go off. But there has been zero talk about the revolver being dropped, so I seriously doubt that that is the issue.
ReplyDeleteNo, Jeff, there's no use trying to cover it up. The secret is out, and we might as well admit it: guns are magic and frequently fire themselves.
... guns are magic and frequently fire themselves.
ReplyDeleteZOMG! I'd better review my Chief Range Safety Officer manual.
Yep, guns are MAGIC!
ReplyDeleteAlec Baldwin tells George Stephanopoulos that not only didn’t he pull the trigger; ‘The trigger wasn’t pulled’
What, they didn't issue you a magic wand? It's where real gun safety begins!
ReplyDeleteIt would have to be a very, very old pistol, they've ben putting a blocker in between the hammer and the cylinder to stop just such an occurrence for a long, long time.
ReplyDeleteAt least he didn't claim he was cleaning it like every other AD.
I have questions: 1) why were the actors using live rounds, 2) why were the Director and Director of Photography behind the camera instead of viewing from a monitor, 3) what injuries did the Director sustain?
