mr veeshir told me about his windmill powered airplane some years ago, but I lost the napkin he drew it oupt on.
ReplyDeleteYou don't accidentally open a can of Whoopass more than once.
ReplyDeleteGiant kite will pull a ship across the ocean next month.
ReplyDeleteNo, it won't. The kite will barely keep the slack out of the rope.
I think my idea of putting a wind generator on an electric vehicle, so it recharges the battery when you're going down the road at 60mph would work better. A 60mph wind would generate a lot of electricity.

Well, now, let's think about this a minute. What about, if instead of one giant kite, there were several of different sizes. And what if they were attached with big ropes to tall poles mounted in the deck. And what if those poles had smaller poles attached at right angles near the tops of the poles. Something like that might work.
Tom: You must find that napkin! The concept sounds revolutionary!
ReplyDeletetom, I thought the same thing.
ReplyDeleteTime to dust that off if they're trying kites to haul cargo ships.
I like the decaf one too, I've always wondered what to do if you do drink decaf accidentally.
What happens to that ship with the kite when the wind stops blowing? Personally, I think they should attach big balloons to the ship and just fly it over the ocean. Less drag. Wait, didn't someone think of that a while ago? Zep ... Zepel ... something like that. I love technology, don't you?
ReplyDeleteI've actually swallowed a mouthful of decaf on occasion. What you have to do is run, don't walk, to the nearest grocery store, buy some regular coffee (instant will do in a pinch), tear the lid off, pour the coffee into your hand, and toss it into your mouth. Swallow, then follow up with a small amount of water. That should stabilize you until you can get medical attention.
ReplyDeleteyou know, mr veeshir I think we put the napkin in the drawer of that big wooden desk in your office. did Paul take that desk when you left?
ReplyDeleteI'm looking tom, but all I found was my GOP voter device.
ReplyDeleteThe squeezy bulb has dry rot.
Something like that might work.
ReplyDeleteWow, I can't believe no one has tried that before! And, with this method you could literally move your ship across the ocean even if you didn't have the wind at your back all the way. That big kite would only work if you had a strong tailwind. How did you come up with such a great idea, Paco?
Well, now that I'm retired, my thought-box has got plenty of time on its hands. For example, I've been cogitatin' on how to improve the efficiency of moving conveyances of various kinds from one spot to another. I'm thinking that maybe you can take a couple of metal rods and stick one crossways in the front and one crossways in the back of the conveyance, and then affix what I call locomotion facilitators to the ends of the rods so that the conveyance sort of rolls. I tried octagonal locomotion facilitators at first, but they made for a very bumpy ride. So I switched to dodecagons, which smoothed the ride out a little, particularly at higher speeds, but they still made for a pretty jarring experience. I just can't seem to light on the best shape for the locomotion facilitators. Anyways, I'm open to suggestions.
ReplyDeleteI suppose you could try a hectogon next, but I'm thinking that at least theoretically a perfectly round locomotion facilitator might give the smoothest ride. Maybe you could cut down a large oak tree and cut off four pieces about six inches wide, then affix them to the ends of the metal rods. You might want to check to see if someone already has a patent that covers this idea.
ReplyDeleteBTW, "locomotion facilitators" is kind of awkward. Maybe they could be named something else that is easier?
Round. Huh. Never thought of that.
ReplyDelete"Locomotion facilitators" is a bit awkward. How about "roundies"?
