And now, a word from our sponsor

"Pancakes?!? Don't you know there's a war on? You'll eat twigs and straw and like 'em!"

Krumbles was discontinued in 1973. When I was 20 years old. Why then have I never heard of them? You'd think a cereal that helped beat the Huns & Japs would have been more popular.

Maybe they merged with Chex?

I had never heard of this stuff, and was surprised to learn that it had been around since 1912.

Rice Chex (and generic varieties) is my favorite cereal. Although we weren't really cereal eaters when I was growing up. Toast and jelly (and occasionally French toast) and pancakes and ham are mostly what I remember.

Twigs and straw are the national cuisine for the commoners of North Korea. Maybe Krumbles will reappear since we are headed down to the fork that leads to the totalitarian road.

I'd try Krumbles, because I like Shredded Wheat, and Grape Nuts. God bless Euell Gibbons for the latter.

Check, Cheerios, and Cream Of Wheat are favorites. I like pancakes, tho I prefer waffles. I'm not into syrup, so I add a little extra sugar to the batter. This might be changing because Richard put syrup on the waffles, and a little bit got on my mac n cheese. Surprisingly good.

Breakfast of my youth was toast (jelly optional), cereal, bacon and eggs, or mush, and bacon. French toast was for weekends.

Kashi has revived the sticks and twigs cereal for maybe the last 10 years.

I almost never eat cereal, and then only in an emergency. My diet requires protein, eggs, bacon, ham, any of that with toast. Occasionally whole wheat pancakes if I want something sweet, and sometimes bagels with cream cheese. I regard cereal as chicken feed.

Cereal for breakfast was all we had growing up. I did not see the concept of a cooked breakfast until I joined Boy Scouts.

Even now …. Fruit, or maybe oatmeal with milk and brown sugar.

Toasted bagels with cream cheese sprinkled with dill topped with sliced salmon. If I had a bit of onion, it would "take it up a notch" as they say. I also like toasted waffles with the best butter on the planet, Kerry Gold Butter. I like peanut butter on waffles too.

I eat breakfast food a lot, just not for breakfast.
Peanut Butter Capt Crunch has been my favorite since it first started.
Second is bite size Frosted Shredded Wheat. I often eat that instead of chips as a snack.

Sorta-related, I ordered stuff from Rolf's Pork Store in Albany, NY, they ship in cold months.
Germans do great things with pigs.

I got a lb of bacon and also one slice about 3/4 inch thick. It takes a long time to cook on low, but that's a fanfargingtastic sandwich.
