In the Li'l Abner cartoon strip, there was a character who appeared from time to time named J. Roaringham Fatback. He was an immensely wealthy, and willful, tycoon, who was used to getting his way. Among his many exploits of capitalist excess, he managed to have the town of Dogpatch moved because it cast a shadow on his breakfast egg.
And then....there's Jeff Bezos: "Jeff Bezos will have Rotterdam dismantle a bridge so his superyacht can pass through".
Well, there goes his free two-day shipping.

ReplyDeleteI just read on Hot Air that the citizens of Rotterdam are planning to throw eggs at the yacht as it passes through. My question is, why did the shipyard agree to build that behemoth if they knew they couldn't get it out? Oh wait ... Bezos is a billionaire.
