"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
My camo baseball cap advertising Super Green chicken manure out of Canby Oregon is getting pretty stanky. Maybe I should consider a Stetson. I've never worn a tie though.
ReplyDeleteGeorge: No need to sweat the tie. A fedora looks good with an open collar shirt, too.
DeletePlease wash that gem of a baseball cap. That's a keeper. Use it as everyday, and the Stetson for Sundays/special occasions.
DeleteMy grandfather wore a Stetson that looked just like that, except that it was gray. My dad tried to, but he just wasn't a hat guy.
ReplyDeleteRebecca: The one thing I miss about work is that I no longer have a reason to dress up like a bank executive circa 1947. I do make a point of wearing a fedora in cool weather sometimes, and I still get compliments on them.
DeletePaco, I loved my grandfather's hat. It's one of the few things I can remember about him. For the record, I admired your 1947 banker look, too bad more people don't emulate it. Also, so glad to see you posting again. We were bereft.
ReplyDeleteA fedora and Panama (in the summer) are two of the main things I remember about my dear great uncle Frank. Although some self-appointed sartorial critics pan the fedora for modern dress, I think they look great. It’s all in how you wear one. You put it on, set it for “jaunty”, and forget about it, like it’s a natural appendage.
