"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
Little known fact: I love the smell of new tires! Don't know why.
ReplyDeleteI just bought two new tires for my truck as an inflation hedge, and now my garage smells a bit like a tire shop. Nice. :-)
I love the smell of new tires!
ReplyDeleteSo do I. I recall the time I went out to buy some Mickey Thompsons for the 'bird, and they smelled so good, I wished that I could have bottled the aroma.
Hmmm, new tire scented perfume!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if women would mind smelling like a tire shop?
One thing about this ad I like is that it gives you a good idea of the pride people took in looking stylish, even when shopping, in the 40s and 50s (and into the early 60s, too). I think it would be great if women dressed like this when they went to the supermarket (or anywhere else); just as it would be great to see men at baseball games wearing ties and Panama hats.
ReplyDeleteAh, the old days are gone forever...
Yeah, sadly the likes of Barbara Billingsley, Donna Reed, Marjorie Lord, and Mary Tyler Moore are never seen at the local WalMart. At least not around here.
ReplyDeleteAnd, to be fair, you don't see Hugh Beaumont, Carl Betz, Danny Thomas, or Dick Van Dyke either.
Oh, and speaking of the Donna Reed Show...Shelley Fabares. Oh, my.
