Between gigs as emperor, when he was confined to the islands, Napoleon's main source of income was endorsements.
Ah, a Napoleon pastry! I haven't had one of those in years. When we lived in Miami, Florida (Lo! These many years ago), there was a place where we would buy those and they were outstanding.
Did you have a Cafe Cubano with your Napoleon pastries, Paco? That seems a decadent combination. One would need a jaunty fedora and a .38 revolver in a shoulder holster to ground it. All while a concerned reporter earnestly tells you "I don't know what's in those trucks but take a look at this photo and tell me that isn't Big Al Muldoon, head enforcer for Boss McClosky!"
When I was in school there was a corner bakery in Del Mar (where I lived at the time) that had, among many other things, Napoleons. They were maybe a once a week treat.
As a matter of fact, I did typically wash it down with Cafe Cubano. As I’ve said in connection with some other tasty treats, it’s like sticking a cork in your aorta, but what a way to go! - Paco
I used to get napoleons at Modern Pastry in the North End of Boston, then have it with cappuccino. That was Saturday and Sunday before my shift at Mother Anna's. Man they were good. It's been 20+ years ago, but Modern was where the locals went.
Don’t forget all the in-person appearances he made, pretending to be delusional.
