Regarding the rugby players and the jumpers - call me a reckless optimist, but I don't think this would have happened without the covid resistance of the last two years. Covid forced some of us to think, and rediscover our backbone.

Good for the rugby players. However, I notice the white players caved and wore the shirts, while the indigenous players refused. Are the white players gay? Besides, "inclusivity" is just another buzz word for "do it my way".
ReplyDeleteI think young white males have more to lose from being ostracised. Not only a highly paid glamorous career in football, but chances of marrying and raising a family, if they get labelled as social outcastes.
ReplyDeletePacific islanders and indigenous have their own culture groups which have different rules, so it's easier for them to stand firm on these issues.
Do girls these days 'fall for the leader of the pack?' My middle class Catholic mum did - my dad was a leather-jacketed motor biker with *no job* who she met at a dance. She made him burn the jacket, get a job and settle.
Most of the young husbands I see now are carrying babies around, and no doubt have all the socially correct opinions and behaviour.
