And now, a word from our sponsor

  1. Aired today, that commercial would cause riots by feminists, the woke, and gun grabbers, supported by antifa. All it lacks is the babe smoking a coffin nail.

I like it! Such a classic ad, direct, simple, blunt.

  2. There's a subtle safety message, too: you probably don't want to be driving in the near vicinity of somebody who's trap shooting.

  3. I may have mentioned this before, but my sister bought a brand new 1967 Mustang convertible with a 289 & 4-speed after getting her first nursing job. In a move she has regretted to this day, she traded the Mustang for a 1969 Cougar. It had a 351 V-8, really wide tires...and no power steering. We visited her in Palo Alto, CA after she got the Cougar, and one day we went up to Lick Observatory. Of course, at the top of a winding mountain road. My sister made it about half-way before her arms gave out, and my dad had to take over.

That might be why they called it a man's car! :-)

  4. Was the Cougar new or used? They didn't come from the factory without power steering, did they? I have heard of people disabling the power steering (probably for racing, I imagine).

  5. I don't know that I would have traded a Mustang for a Cougar - but then again, I might have. I really liked the Cougar's styling.

  6. It was new, and if I remember right, it came without PS. It was on a dealer's lot, so the dealer may have ordered it that way. I can't imagine why, though.

Believe it, or not, she traded the Cougar for a 1972 Pinto wagon. Luckily, she never got rear-ended while driving it.*

*I just found out that despite the Pinto's reputation as a rolling bomb, there were 27 people killed when the gas tank exploded in a rear-end collision. That's 27 too many, but not the hundreds you would expect.
