There are plenty of good reasons to be contemptuous of Joe Biden, and I subscribe to all of them, but perhaps the one trait of his that bothers me the most is the fact that he has always been a vain, self-celebratory blowhard. For example: "Watch Biden Tell Bizarre Story About Helping Old Lady Take Down Gang". The endless boasting, which features a blend of heavily embellished actual (but insignificant) occurrences and the sheer imaginings of a serial fabulist, must stem from a deep insecurity, and an awareness (perhaps suppressed) of the paucity of real achievement in his life.
Throw in his political tribalism, his corruption, his mediocre intellect, and his now ravaged cerebral cortex, and you're looking at a mighty unlikely recipient of 87 million legitimate votes.
I don't hold his lying stupidity against him, he's always just been a corrupt dumbass.

A very old friend is high up in our 'conservative' Liberal Party and is on board with anti-Trumpers etc. He just posted a pic on his Facebook of Gorbachev and Putin captioned 'the man who ended the Cold War and the man who re-started it'. He has a sycophantic but useless following so I saw no point in making a comment but was tempted to say things like 'Melodramatic claptrap'. 'Dr Strangelove redux' and 'Australia should mind its own business'.
ReplyDeleteSadly our 'conservative' Liberal leader Tony Abbott says much the same thing, all seeming to be led by British 'Intelligence' elites, as was Alexander Downer when he passed on stuff to the FBI which led to Trump's impeachment. (Downer was John Howards 'sec state' guy).
These people are all legends in their own minds (or in too deep with the elites), holding to some supposed ideals which us hoi polloi can not grasp (my friend is from a hard working Sicilian migrant family and has helped me, so I cut him some slack and let it go in his case, even if he proudly poses for photos with Malcolm Turnbull).
