I'm so glad he's ok with it

The German Food and Agriculture minister definitely doesn't believe in sugar-coating the downside of implementing the Grün Reich: "Hunger is no argument against bio diversity and protection of the climate".

An impolitic admission, but it's good to see where we peasants stand in the grand scheme of things. Possibly it's just the cynic in me, but I'd be willing to make a substantial wager that Herr Özdemir will not be one of the unfortunates faced with a diminished dinner table.

[Post updated and corrected; I had originally thought Schoeller was the Ag Minister, but I read through the piece too fast].

  1. Cem Özdemir isn't a German name. I'm guessing xe is of Turkish descent, so not really concerned with downsizing the ethnic German population.

We shopped in Whole Foods exactly one time and saw it for the elitist scam it is. Never again. I think their beef came from some kind of stringy free-range ungulate of some kind, but it definitely wasn't the cow we're used to.

  2. Rebecca: I read the Tweet wrong. Schoeller isn't the Ag Minister. I'll correct that.

  3. This winter is going to be ugly in Europe.
Remember the European's perennial past time: Going on killing sprees.
There aren't enough Jews left to work up a good progrom so they're going to have each other, Muslims or politicians.
Should be interesting to see which they go for (I'm betting on All of the Above).

RebeccaH, I go to Whole Foods for good cheese and other exotic stuff you can't find anywhere else, not for overpriced hamburger or aluminum foil.

  4. Here's a bon mot by Ace, "Buying groceries labeled “organic” is like paying a premium to have a Cadillac hood ornament slapped on a Chevrolet".
