The da Vinci machines are ALWAYS interesting to look at. The worm screw applications are an excellent example.
However, he didn't really invent the odometer, he tried to reinvent the old Roman design. Apparently, his design didn't work.
As for the ridiculous, yep, that machine is hilarious!
