I think it would have been hilarious if, at the conclusion of the procedure, Nancy had vanished in a puff of smoke.

"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
Or if the 100 or so botox treatments she's had over the years just suddenly disappeared.
ReplyDeleteKind of like when the Nazi's face melts in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
So the church will deny her communion but do an exorcism? They should've started with the exorcism first.
ReplyDeleteIf the exorcism is successful, the Pelosi abode will be vacant. Can evil re-inhabit places and people?
ReplyDelete...(if) Nancy had vanished in a puff of smoke.
ReplyDeleteShe didn't have a worry, it wasn't an RC priest, probably Baal or Tezcatlipoca.
Hilarious? Hell, no. Logical outcome.
ReplyDeleteThat WOULD have been Beelzebub casting out Beelzebub,
Good point Paco. Never occurred to me.
ReplyDeleteAlso good point Gregory, Mathew Ch12 yes?
I'm no theologian, Bruce. The best efforts of the Marist Nuns and the Christian Brothers combined couldn't achieve that!
ReplyDeleteI remember that quote because the B word stuck in my mind at age 7. What's a Beelzebub?
It's worthwhile noting that the Pope didn't excommunicate Nasty from the Catholic Church (it's my understanding that nobody but the Pope can do that, correct me if I'm wrong). She wasn't excommunicated, which in church doctrine would bar her from entering Heaven. The bishop of the diocese where she attended church barred her from receiving communion, and she got around that by going to another, more leftist-friendly church in another diocese. She still thinks she can get God's approval just by attending mass and confessing her sins (like she thinks she has any) to a priest.
ReplyDeleteForgive me, Paco and Mrs, P for outlining things my Protestant/kinda heathen outlook would see (but Mr. H and all my in-laws are Catholic, some of them even devout).
Excommunication can be carried out by the Pope, by the Bishop of the diocese, and by priests of established religious orders (but not by the parish priest). The bishop who denied her communion must have opted not to excommunicate her, but denying her communion is a Big Deal in the Catholic Church, so at least there's that. Confession won't do her any good if it isn't full and sincere. She'll probably try to slip into heaven via some kind of loop hole that she thinks she's identified, but salvation ain't politics, so she might wind up being disappointed.
