Looks like an interesting concept

I'm not much of a manga fan, but the live action film based on the manga series, Thermae Romae, appears to be worth checking out. Below is a synopsis, with scenes from the movie, posted on YouTube. It involves an ancient Roman architect who gets sucked into a hole in a bath house, and winds up in a modern bathhouse in Japan. Then he travels back in time to Rome. This happens multiple times, and some of the observations he makes in modern Japan are turned into popular innovations back in Rome.

The film came out in 2012, so I'm way behind the curve, but for those who are interested, the movie, with English subtitles, is available for free on YouTube.

  1. So, sounds like it's Back to the Future with a toilet instead of a DeLorean as the time machine.

There's a joke in there somewhere.

  2. If I knew he'd be back I'd give him a Polaroid and a crapload of film.
Assuming you could find a Polaroid and film.
Or at least a 35mm and a bunch of film.
Of course with my luck, he'd end up in Pompeii and I'd see my camera in a museum somewhere, covered in ash.
