...some 13 people died as a result of the recent snow storms that hit California.
We're talking a lot of snow; check out these photos:
The last picture is reportedly a photo of a hole that firemen had to dig to reach a fire hydrant.
"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
The claim that last pic was a hole dug to get to a fire hydrant seemed a bit sketchy to me. I did an image search and found this claim also: Digging down REALLY DEEP to access a fire hydrant at Donner Pass Tahoe! No, not really! This is the UC Berkeley Snow Lab @ucb_cssl a couple of days ago.
ReplyDeleteAnd this: The picture is in fact from Donner Pass in Lake Tahoe, but I have learned that firefighters did not dig this hole to reach a fire hydrant. This was at a lab for UC Berkeley.
Never trust the internet. :-)
1) It's a deep hole in the snow;
ReplyDelete2) In California;
3) Presumably dug in the wake of a snow storm.
How the hell do you know that the firemen weren't digging their way down to the hydrant because the lab was on fire?
Yeah, precipitation (rain and snow) has been incredibly high in Kalifornia. The current flooding is only the start. I ain’t looking forward to spring runoff.
