And neither will the FBI (but I repeat myself): "An FBI informant inside the Catholic Church, to keep tabs on all those Latin mass aficionados?"
Interesting that the FBI's spying operation apparently originated in the Richmond, VA field office, because when we lived in Richmond, we attended a Latin Mass church - in fact, I think St. Joseph's was the only church in the area that offered the Tridentine Mass. When we attended, the pastor was an elderly Benedictine priest, one of the gentlest and kindest people I ever knew. The parishioners were, indeed, conservative in their doctrine, but as I believe I've written before, I don't recall overhearing any political conversations of the sort that one wouldn't hear anywhere in any red state bar, or at any pool party, neighborhood barbecue, or family reunion. Of course, that's a much larger target; the feds may have to hire several tens of thousands more goons before they clamp down on such a vast population.
In any event, Chris Wray, I reaffirm my devotion to the Tridentine Mass. If you want to play pursuivants and recusants - Bring. It. On.
Too bad the Pope is on the side of the FBI.
ReplyDeleteYes, that does kind of put the faithful at a disadvantage. Oh, well, there's always schism.
