And now, a word from our sponsor

  1. This is a breezy and exhilarating test of that curative power now used the world over.

Not sure why, but this reminded me of the scene from Ghostbusters where Bill Murray is doing psychic testing using electrical shock to punish a wrong answer, and the young guy spits his gum out when he gets shocked.

Probably the funniest scene from a funny movie. I wonder if this scene is just as funny in the all-female remake? I guess I'll never know.

  2. Reminds me of the time when I was a student at the University of Detroit. I was on the upper floor of one of the dormitories and left my room to take the elevator down to the lobby. The "down" button was missing; there was only a hole. I absent-mindedly stuck my finger in the hole, thinking to hit the control switch or whatever the button should have been connected to, and a jolt of electricity ran up my arm, hit me in the chest and knocked me across the hall to the opposite wall. I have to say, I felt quite energized and alert for the rest of the day.

And I expect that your hair was hard to comb as well.....

  5. Tsk. I would expect a Southerner to know better than to stick his finger in a hole he can't see into. There might be snakes in there.

  6. At Lake George, NY, there used to be an amusement park called Gaslight Village.
It was pretty cool, steampunk before steampunk.
One ride was a bunch of old timey bicycles attached to a ring. You all had to pedal the ride. The really old ones with a huge front wheel and tiny rear wheel.
They also had very old arcade games.
One was two doorknobs to test your strength. The doorknobs were electrified.
It tightened every muscle in your forearms.
I'm not sure about its therapeutic value, I was only like 8-10 when we went, but I used it a bunch of times every time we went.
