"Alarming Dianne Feinstein Situation Roars to Life During Defense Appropriations Bill Vote".

We might as well just go ahead and allow AI senators and representatives.

  1. Fine with me. But I think you'd need a plebiscite to accomplish it; most (not all) of the politicians involved wouldn't dream of depriving the people of being represented by their glorious selves.

  2. To get rid of the half-dead geezers, you first need to clean out the unelected staffers who prop them up and who are actually the ones running the government. Unless we can elect some politicians dedicated to doing that, we're screwed.

  3. What Rebecca said. The staffers are enabling this crap, with the blessings of the senior “leadership”.

  4. Regarding term limits ... ...

Once upon a time, Washington State voters passed a terms limit referendum, which has the effect of law.

At that time, Tom Foley (nominally) from and representing part of Eastern Washington, was Speaker of the House. He promptly brought a law suit in federal court, and had the referendum overturned.

I forget the rationale, but he pi$$ed off a large number of his constituents, enough that he was voted out of office a couple of terms later. It took that long to overcome The Machine™.
