...and every so often it might even get a little rowdy, but sensitive souls do have an option, according to this sign I saw in the store yesterday:

How do they make it a "calmer shopping environment?"
ReplyDeleteEnquiring minds want to know.
Huh... seems off brand to me. Walmart seems the sort of place you'd find Bobcat Goldwaithe, or maybe Christopher Lloyd or Sam Kinnison as a greeter.
ReplyDeleteNot sure I want a calmer, less frenetic shopping experience there.
V: Mrs. Paco and I were discussing this, and she pointed out that the "calmer shopping environment" actually had specific hours (8-10 am) and was only one day a week (Saturday). I suppose a lot of people are still sleeping one off on Saturday morning, so I guess that would result in fewer shoppers.
ReplyDeleteStephen: I agree. We want to keep our survival skills sharp.
One of the few ways the plandemic affected me was a change of my WM shopping hours. Before, I usually went in the afternoon, but I started going only very early, and usually on Sunday morning. Very few people, and a lot easier to get in and out. Saturday mornings are usually way less crowded, too, so that's probably why they have the quiet time shopping for sensitive people.
ReplyDeleteThe only problem I can see is that if it's successful and draws big crowds, it'll kill itself.
Uh ... wut?
ReplyDeleteR-man: Yeah, for a while during the pandemic, the Walmart here was offering special shopping hours for us "seasoned" citizens (as Rush used to say). The time period was pretty early, as I recall.
ReplyDeletecostco had some eary entry times for seniors, that were less crowded, maybe still do.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking people with kids would be there early on Saturday.
ReplyDeleteNot a calming environment.
I used to go there after midnight but in 2020 they started closing at 11pm around here.
It was calm but often a pain as the aisles were full of restocking.
So all bets are off on August 27. No more quiet time. What's a sensory sensitive person to do. Btw, are they the latest protected class.
