Wanton persecution

"DOJ to Appeal Sentences Imposed In Oath Keeper Cases".

But, I do not think that is really the goal of the stated intention to appeal. My opinion is that DOJ has taken this step for political purposes — so that the appellate process is not dominated by defense claims of error with regard to the trials. By appealing the sentences, the DOJ can continue to aggressively advance the political narrative that opposition to the Biden Administration is linked to criminality in order to delegitimize that political opposition heading into the 2024 election cycle.

If you guessed the DOJ doesn't think the sentences are long enough, then pat yourself on the back.

    Oh, just a lucky guess!

  2. The DOJ has unlimited resources to spend on the appeals whereas the defendants are destitute or nearly so. This amounts to financial bullying.
