Victor Davis Hanson: "We Need A Counter-Revolutionary That Will Stand Up, Bring Back An Orderly And Humane Society".
Hoover Institution Senior Fellow Victor Davis Hanson declared the United States is in need of a "counter-revolutionary" that will say 'I don't care what you do to me. I don't care about my career. This is going to stop, it's going to stop now. We are going to enforce the law. We're going to bring back an orderly and humane society. We are going to judge people on the content of their character, not the color of their skin. We are not going to destroy the middle class with the pipe dreams of the bicoastal elites.'Yes, he's right. People are going to have to be willing to lose their jobs, go to jail, maybe go considerably farther. The devil, of course, is in the details, and a lot - everything, actually - depends on whether the normals will become energized to do what needs to be done, or will sink into a resentful but compliant apathy.
The problem is the 60-100 million folks who think they deserve other people's money.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I think some sort of collapse has to happen, we cannot go $2 trillion in debt every year, it's unsustainable.
I agree. Some kind of massive economic crisis may be the only thing to snap people out of their ignorance and/or complacency.
ReplyDeleteWhile I agree with the Professor's argument in principle, I fear that in reality we will not get out of this without bloodshed. These are people who understand one thing only, and that is power.
ReplyDeleteIf the days of 'vote them out' haven't already passed, they are dwindling fast, and I don't see anything/anyone around that would spark that action even if it were still an option.
ReplyDeleteIn other words, I'm not overly optimistic about the future. I just found out I'm in need of heart valve replacement surgery if I want to maintain a normal, active life and possibly extend said life. I'll probably have it done, but some days I wonder why I would want to live long enough to see what's coming. Still more optimist than pessimist, I guess.
Prayers and all best wishes! You want to stick around for the same reason we do: the fight needs everyone. Stay positive.
DeleteC'mon, r-man, you know you want to see how this all turns out.
ReplyDeleteGet 'er done, and best wishes for a quick recovery.
Well, I have to admit, these are at least interesting times, if not the most pleasant of times. And I'm at least lucky that I live in an area that is still somewhat sane, and there's a chance it will remain that way till after I'm gone.
ReplyDeletePlus, I'd miss you guys!
Good luck, rinardman. Heart valve replacement is pretty routine now, so now worries there. Is it optimism to want to live long enough to see Dirty Old Joe get what's coming to him?
