And probably doing it better than the feds would, anyway.

"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
If the Feds do anything, it will sound very much like 'Stop doing that!'
ReplyDeleteThey don't know who owns Fronton Island? I say, if the Texas Rangers took it, we do. What's Mexico going to do? Try to take it back? Don't make me laugh.

ReplyDeleteIt depends on treaties, but international borders on rivers are a grey area because the channel changes. Unless there's a surveyed border (as in, someone meticulously plotted it on the ground), who owns what is up for debate. In this case, the debate has been (unofficially?) delegated to the cartels by the Mexican government.
The Rio Grande has been argued over between the US and Mexico. Texas did survey the land, so they at least have some legal cover.
The question of ownership of Fronton Island reminds me of my homestead. It's 10.22 acres on the Verde Creek. We own half the creek. Unfortunately, there are no Texas Rangers.
