The terror this time

Victor Davis Hanson: "Reflections on Israel’s New Existential War".

Israel now knows there is no living with a precivilizational Hamas. It must destroy it, permanently block off Gaza from itself, and adopt a strategy of chronic disproportionate response from now on out.

Update Caution: the news out of Gaza just keeps getting worse.

Nothing short of the complete extirpation of Hamas will suffice in the long term. And the people who cheer them on should be utterly suppressed and broken.

  1. VDH is absolutely right when he says "Biden's handlers" won't do anything to support Israel and make America safer. Obama saw himself as a pseudo-Muslim and his bots are embedded in the Biden administration, still trying to fundamentally transform America into some vague pro-Islamic utopia. Dirty Old Joe is just their increasingly frail cardboard cutout.

  2. Look at the post WWII reconstruction of Germany and Japan. That could only happen after a total crushing defeat. Hamas and other terror groups don't use their tactic from hopelessness and desperation - they use them because they're effective. Terrorism is intended to paralyze the weak.

Hamas and Hezbollah need to be crushed and Israel needs to establish sanitized border zones. No Palis in Gaza, no attacks from Gaza. That's how it works.

  3. Occupying Gaza and booting the current population into Syria or Iran is what Israel needs to do.

Not to mention, retaliate against Iran.

  4. Remember 20 years ago when, if I recall, Israel handed Gaza over to the Pal Authority or whoever? We talked a lot about it back then, and some very humanitarian Jews were the ones saying it was the right thing to do? Like Tim Blair's friend the cricket fan (now 10 yrs dead) Norm Geras, who I corresponded with and even met when he came to Sydney. I actually emailed Norm with my concerns about relinquishing Gaza, but he disagreed and said it was the proper thing. He has relatives in Israel, so I deferred to his views. He supported the US retaliation over 9/11, so I think he may have a different view now.
