  1. Many's the time I had that special at the Five and Dime.
    Woolworth's lunch counter was awesome.

  2. You can say that again. There was a Woolworth's lunch counter right across the street from the Coral Gables branch of the Florida National Bank where my department was located for a year or so. They served the tastiest burgers and fries in town.

  3. Yeah, the burger and crinkle cut fries were awesome.
The turkey was eh, but they'd give extra gravy and that's the point of a turkey dinner.

    1. Turkey is good, but the dressing, cranberry sauce, and green bean casserole are my favorites.

  4. Reminds me of Thanksgiving 2013. I was aboard a ship in Charleston, SC, being stripped down for tow to Brownsville TX for scrapping. And so there was no berthing or food service aboard, we were put in a hotel in North Charleston.

Thanksgiving morning I got off watch, took the transport to the hotel, and went for a walk. About a mile south of the hotel was a Denny's, and that was where I ended up early afternoon for my Thanksgiving dinner. Wasn't great, wasn't awful, just... was.

That wasn't the last Thanksgiving I spent away from home, but it seemed the oddest.

  5. Yes, the gravy is the thing. Turkey gravy is probably my favorite.
