Of EVs and nausea

Gregory has a link to a thoughtful (and amusing) YouTube poster who speaks on the subject of EVs. Catch it here.

  1. He doesn't really explain why EVs might make passengers feel nausea, just gives it as yet another reason not to get one.

I have a feeling that it's a function of the regenerative braking; regenerative braking, from what I gather is a setting that takes energy back when you let off the accelerator, higher regeneration setting can cause the vehicle to slow down without having to use the brakes; so, you don't coast; an ICE vehicle doesn't have regeneration and can coast if you let off the accelerator (but will slow a bit because of the rolling resistance of the tires and the grade of the road); I used to get nausea when we went on long drives and my dad would be paying more attention to the lecture he was presenting to his captive audience than to his driving and would press the accelerator and release it in a way that would make the car go then slow, go then slow in waves; I imagine that's the way it feels in an EV with regeneration on.
