Happy Feet Friday

On the lighter side today we've got Helen O'Connell and the Jimmy Dorsey orchestra with a jive song from 1941 called "Au Reet".

And here's a little novelty number from 1947 by "Felix Figueroa and his Orchestra" (in reality, Freddy Martin and his band), called "Pico and Sepulveda"; the lyrics consist mostly of the names of streets in Los Angeles and environs. The song has an interesting history.

The song was regularly played on the old Dr. Demento program, broadcast live Sunday evenings from KMET in LA. Parts of it were used for the show's intro.
