We have Banksia in our yard and they grow everywhere in my area. Usually the nuts aren't as long as that. Used to be a thing to put a face and small legs on them and sell them as souvenirs, like hairy old guys.

I had to google banksia because I didn't know what it was. I was never a turner, but the pods do make beautiful little vases.
