I love old, dark, ornate pieces of furniture like that. If I had the money, I'd buy a mansion and fill it with that kind of furniture. None of that spare Scandinavian look for me.
When we lived in Miami, there was a wonderful store called Discount Antiques, filled with old stuff from the Victorian era through the Art Deco period through mid-century modern. Among other things, they had an old rosewood piano and two complete bars from pubs or something similar (mahogany, complete with mirrors). There was also some kind of mahogany side board with carved gargoyles. I wanted so badly to purchase one or more of the Art Deco bookcases, but, even though the items were moderately-priced, we were just too poor at the time.
