A strong commitment to our constitution is a threat to contemporary American politics - as it should be, as long as American politics keeps promoting censorship and lawfare against the opposition, socialism and cultural suicide.
It's in the open now.
ReplyDeleteYes, they hate your rights and want to take them. No freedom of speech. No freedom of assembly unless it's to riot and burn and destroy. No freedom of religion especially if you're a filthy Jew or Neanderthal Christian. Freedom of the press? All that means is you can't criticize the NYT and WaPo.
They own you and if you object... well, you really don't want to find out what happens, right? The jackboots are polished, but they're the jackboots of democracy so keep your mouths shut!
Oh, and property? None of it belongs to you. Children? You only hold them in stewardship for The State and they'll take them if you step out of line.
DeleteStephen, that sounds exactly like Communist China today.
ReplyDeleteAnd IIRC, one of the current VP candidates has been to China 20+ times. But I'm sure he was just sightseeing, right?
I read a story a while back that said real estate tax is basically land rent; the government charges you rent and increases the rent every time you improve it; they'll take it from you if you don't pay the rent; at hit hard; fortunately there's no expiration date, otherwise your investment would decrease as you got closer to the expiration date.
ReplyDeleteThere's a condo community near me, the developers built it on land leased for 99 years, similar to how Hong Cong was leased from China, and they built several buildings of rental apartments, later sold as condos; the developers cashed out and the condo owners have the risk of losing if the land lease is not extended in 2052; I considered buying there figuring that I'd probably be dead by then.
The Constitution is dangerous to a certain group of people, namely those who constantly bleat about "saving Our Democracy"™. If we don't defend it, the most successful constitution in the history of the world will be lost.
