Seems like I recently heard the DOJ saying something about Russia interfering in the upcoming U.S. presidential election

Is this what AG Garland meant? "Putin Says He Supports Kamala Harris in U.S. Presidential Election".

I grudgingly must admit that I am impressed by the level of Putin's cynicism.
