I remember watching some of this jerk's testimony about the "insurrection". You would've thought he'd single-handedly fought off a squad of heavily-armed Waffen SS troops. And he showed up wearing more chest candy than Audie Murphy.
Anyhow, since those glory days when he appeared before congressional committees, and briefly provided occasional "analysis" for CNN before getting fired, he seems to have been spending most of his time demonstrating why he never should have been a cop in the first place - and shouldn't ever be again: "‘End of the F*cking World’: Jan 6 Cop Michael Fanone Has Drunk Election Night Meltdown".
I kind of think (based on a long life of encountering characters like this, family and acquaintances) that not all of Fanone’s problems are his alcoholism. I figure the alcoholism is just self-medication for a personality disorder. People like that are not fixable.
ReplyDeleteMy point is that his future is not a bright one.
DeleteI've known people like that as well, Rebecca, and you are quite right.
DeleteAlas.
The way I see it, there are two choices when an event that you have been shrieking for years is an existential threat to everything occurs.
ReplyDeleteOne, quietly and self consciously clear your throat, mutter "Huh, guess I was wrong... never mind." Two is to self immolate.
And it may seem a simple easy decision to make, that's only because you and I are not pathologically wedded to the bizarre fantasy scenarios we have been spinning.
