Rare snow fall at the Paco Command Center

It's currently 25 degrees F (feels like 12), and we got a couple of inches of snow. Most winters we don't get any snow, and this is the most I've seen since we've been here (another thing Donald Trump has already fixed: global warming!)

Here's Mrs. Paco, claiming the Brunswick County ice cap for the Republic of Pacovia...

This is the Sublime Porte (commonly known as the "front entrance")...

Guess none of the neighbors wanted to come out to play...

  1. Yeah, the month of January has been miserable here. Snow & ice on the ground for at least two weeks, near zero temps with minus double digit windchill for days on end.
We were promised no snow and warmer temps! There needs to be a class-action lawsuit filed against somebody.

    1. Al Gore was in charge of the global warming thing, I believe. And I know he's got deep pockets. So, I say, let's sue him.

  2. I thought you folks got 9" of snow from the weather apps, the picture looks like a dusting... still, it's supposed to be sunny and warm enough to golf all year down there.

    1. Nah, that's up in the Outer Banks, on the northern coast of the state. We're in the southern-most county of North Carolina; Brunswick County got accumulations of 2-4" (we got around 2" in my neighborhood).

    2. Pensacola, FL got at least 5" of snow!

  3. I sympathize with everyone (I carefully avoided saying "y'all") ... ... up here in central Montana, it's been around freezing, with occasional forays up to 40 F, and one drop to -10 F. And snow, of course. With more coming.

    1. I meant to add, at least you don't need a snow blower, Paco!

  4. Pshaw! That little dusting is nothing compared to what we’ve got up here in southwest Ohio, except that y’all don’t know how to drive in it. Anyway, it’s not snow that bothers me, it’s the darn ice … and the current below zero temps.

    1. Unfortunately, we have a heat pump system (after more than 30 years of natural gas). The inside temp dropped to 63, even though the heat was on. Today, we discovered the miracle of "emergency heat" mode.

  5. I guess complaining it's hitting 40 at night and barely hitting 70 in the day in Tempe would be out of line?

    2. I don't think you quite understand what we're going through.
I actually have to wear socks when I'm not at work!

    3. You've got it pretty rough, no doubt about it.

  6. We get snow like that every few years, but only above 3000 ft altitude.

Interestingly, Brunswick NC is almost exactly as far above the Equator in degrees of latitude as Sydney Australia is below it. Yet differences in climate. Atlantic vs Pacific?

  7. I've just mailed a box of carbon dioxides to the Paco Command Centre.
Follow the directions closely and for goodness sake stand well back when you release them. Those little suckers are evil.
You should be in summer uniform in no time.

  8. Some spots in Duval County got a bit of snow. We got nuthin' but cold rain. Thankfully it wasn't freezing rain or ice. Some of my Florida native salvia still has blossoms!
