The ones that got away

Another interesting video by Mark Felton: The Naumann Circle Plot.

  1. Even when I was a butter bar in West German, there were plenty of WWII vets around. During one field exercise, one squad received a block of instruction from a former Wehrmacht soldier on how to set up their M60 (not unlike the old MG42). The squad leader was very impressed with the skills that man displayed.

That was in 1980 or so. So I wouldn't be surprised if the "former" Nazis working at any level in the West German government would cover for Naumann and his crowd. Back then, what self-respecting German wanted verdammt Ausländer telling them what to do?

Alas, these days, foreigners running the country is a feature, not a bug.
