God rest the souls of our gallant mates
Thanks, Mick, for reminding me (yet again). I would have hated to have overlooked it as a result of my creeping dotage.
You show more respect for the day than many in this country Paco. There was some controversy at the Melbourne Dawn Service where the MSM reported "far right wing extremists" booed during the service. What they were booing was the Welcome to Country ceremony that is inflicted upon us at every event. This where we pay an aboriginal to welcome us to our own country and tell us how bad we are. In this case I think the people booing were veterans not extremists, who had had enough of this garbage. I can't say I disagree with them but it did spoil a pretty solemn occasion. I think a more appropriate place to protest could be any of the sporting events in which we have to endure them.
Think I'll make a batch of ANZAC biscuits tomorrow. The recipe I like includes coconut, which I guess can be very controversial in some quarters.
