We honor them all. Here is one hero chosen at random.
"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
What a fine looking young man he was. It must have broken his poor mother's heart, like so many others. I'll lift a glass to PFC James Labelle when it is beer o'clock this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteHis mother must have felt especially bad because she had to sign off on his enlistment due to his age. Old Paco, who turned 17 in 1945, begged his father to sign off on enlistment papers, but Grandpa Paco refused, telling him "You ain't goin' nowhere, now git your a$$ back in that cotton field!"
DeleteWith the final act of his tragically short life, James Labelle defined heroism.
