    Selling toys in grocery stores. The beginning of the slippery slope that leads to WalMart.

    1. Grocery stores frequently sold things not normally associated with that type of store. I remember seeing Funk & Wagnalls encyclopedias on sale in our local Winn-Dixie when I lived in Cary, NC.

    2. Aldi stores are like that today. The central aisle is loaded with stuff that's got nothing to do with food. Toasters, towels, left-handed spaghetti forks...
