This evening, Mrs. Paco and I went over to Oak Island (about four miles from the Paco Command Center) and walked on the beach. One of the benefits of the southern barrier islands in North Carolina is that they generally run east to west, so you can watch the sun rise on your left, cross the sky in front of you during the day, and then set on your right.
It's too soon to see any potential impact from Hurricane Erin; the surf was pretty gentle, and there was little wind to speak of. I believe the hurricane is expected to stay out to sea, bringing it closer to the northern Outer Banks than to us (Hatteras Island is already under a mandatory evacuation order). May God watch over those folks.
Oak Island?
ReplyDeleteIt looks nice, but did you find Aztec Treasure?
Not that Oak Island.
DeleteCome to think of it, if I looked for it, I could probably find more gold here than those fellows on the other Oak Island.
