Breaking local news

"Three killed, eight injured in shooting at Southport Yacht Basin".

Three people are dead and eight others are injured after a shooting at the Southport Yacht Basin.
The City of Southport posted an emergency notice on social media shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27.
The City of Southport spokesperson stated that three people were killed when someone opened fire at the basin Saturday night. The current conditions of the eight other people who were injured are unknown.

People on Facebook are saying that the shooting occurred at or near a seafood restaurant (The American Fish Company), which is just a few miles from where I live.  Another reason I'm glad I don't eat seafood.

God bless the souls of the dead and help the injured to recover. Story is developing.

Update  According to new information coming in, the shots came from a boat that motored up to the dockside restaurant, the shooter spraying the crowd outside with bullets.

Update II  Found on Facebook (source of info not indicated):

Though officials have yet to release a formal name, multiple reports point to Nigel Max Edge, born Sean William DeBevoise, as the man connected to the shooting. He is currently in custody.
Edge, a former U.S. Marine, enlisted after 9/11 and served tours in Afghanistan and Haiti before being wounded in Iraq in 2006. He briefly stepped into the spotlight in 2012 when country star Kellie Pickler invited him to the CMT Music Awards in recognition of his service. He later published a memoir, Headshot: Betrayal of a Nation.

In more recent years, Edge has become a controversial figure. He filed numerous lawsuits, most of which were dismissed, and has posted extensively online about alleged conspiracies, including claims of having a fabricated identity, surviving assassination attempts, and being poisoned. His posts also leveled broad accusations of corruption and human trafficking against government agencies, law enforcement, and public figures.

'There'll be a Republican in there somewhere.'

My condolences to the families of those shot.

  2. Maybe Trump is driving all the wackos out of D.C. and they're moving to NC, too, Paco.
    Watch your back.

Sounds like the boat sat across the waterway from The American Fish Company for a long time before the guy opened fire on the diners. Not like he just pulled up in the boat, and opened fire.

  3. At least it wasn’t one of our enriching diversity guests. Seems like it might have been personal for this guy.

    1. Apparently so, Rebecca. Unfortunately, we're starting to see our own crop of whackos come out of the woodwork.

  4. Looks normal crazy.
My first thought, and I doubt I'm alone, was tranny shooting up something named 'American'.
I should have known it wasn't, owning a boat implies someone with a job.
