I look forward to the day that the members of the College of Cardinals will collect their wits about them...

...and elect a pope who is not a fatuous admirer of threadbare, yet dangerous, ideologies promoted by left-wing fabulists, and who, furthermore, will zealously guard against the temptation to fritter away his spiritual authority through the conflation of Holy writ and the hysterical yawping of fools (or worse) chasing after a succession of temporal fads rooted in the hatred of the sublime, the beautiful and the humane.

You'd think that wouldn't be too much to ask; in fact, it would appear to be a reasonable expectation. But, nooooo: Pope Leo May Be the Most Radical Pope Yet.

Our Lord promised that the gates of Hell shall not prevail against his church. But I take it that the ultimate victory of the church may well involve a great struggle, and its best guarantee of success likely will lie with the efforts of the common faithful, not with princes who are willing to trade their patrimony for a mess of potage.

  1. We didn't have these problems when the pope was Italian.
    Just sayin'.

  2. Leo seemed fairly normal at the start. Now the world discovers he's Al Gore with a zucchetto.
