"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
This trailer looks better than the original....
ReplyDeleteHaw! One of the commenters at the YouTube site suggested that, too. I've never seen a film version, but I would definitely watch one that looked like this.
DeleteI've seen the original. While I don't expect a movie to be identical to the book, I do like there to be a faithful attempt to be consistent. The original tried in parts, but (IMHO) had a fair amount of over acting. It's not on my rewatch list.
DeleteI've not seen the current version, as I prefer to wait for a movie to hit the streaming services, preferably one that I'm subscribed to. But I hear it's an improvement, and the trailer looks promising.
I have seen the current version, and it's very low key compared to Lynch's movie. The Baron is almost catatonic - no howling at all.
DeleteI thought the original was way overblown until I saw the remake. It's got its moments, but overall it feels like the production team sat down to watch the original and did everything they could to not resemble it.
Actually, the cat may have been a DEI hire, but I bet it can take on anything a dog would with extreme prejudice.
ReplyDeleteI thought the original was an attempt to be faithful but it's hard to show the nuance of a few pages as written.
ReplyDeleteLike Voice, in the book it was like a normal voice but with undertones, in the movie they talked like Batman.
The overacting was an attempt to portray the feel of the book I thought.
If you hadn't read thebook, I figured the movie made no sense.
I haven't seen the newer version. I heard it was good.
