I'm sure Albanese will get right on this

"Australia Cancels Christmas Rather Than Cancel Muslim Riots".

And there's also this: "Jewish bakery in Sydney shuts down after anti-Semitic threats following Bondi attack".

The bakery had faced nearly two years of persistent antisemitic harassment, including threats, vandalism, and intimidation. Management said the abuse continued even after the Bondi attack, ultimately forcing the decision to close. As a highly visible business operating long hours, the bakery said it could no longer protect its employees, patrons, or their families, calling the move a “heartbreaking” but necessary step.

I don't intend to single out Australia as being any worse than other places when it comes to creating these types of situations, largely via inadequate immigration controls; certainly, UK, France and the U.S. are guilty, probably far more so, when it comes to the same criminal indulgence of Muslim "sensibilities" and of not always backing up promises of security for the Jewish community. But outbreaks of anti-Semitism need to be highlighted when and where they occur; while the recent flaring up of this historical hatred appears to be driven largely by Muslims, the poison is spreading to elements of the non-Muslim population, as well, and suggests another ominous wave of the irrational in contemporary politics.

Also, based on comments from my Australian friends, it appears that the police did rather a more professional job in responding to the Bondi massacre than initially thought when I first posted on this tragedy, so I apologize for assuming that the initial reports were necessarily the last word on the subject. A couple of the police officers even took hits from the assassins and are in critical condition, so I wish them a full recovery.

  1. WTH?
Extremist muslims see it as surrender and are emboldened.
It makes it harder on non-murderous Muslims too.

  2. As a comment I saw a few days ago pointed out: Extremist muslims are snakes, moderate muslims are the grass they hide in.

I wonder what kind of threats the guy who disarmed the terrorist has been getting?

      A very incisive analogy.

  3. 'Australia cancels Christmas'? Well no, only planned Christmas/New Year celebrations for locals at Bondi Beach itself. Solemn events to honour the victims there have been happening : 'Thousands gather' -

Fitting the local mood of sadness.

Australia's been taking Arabic-speaking migrants since the 1800s, mostly Lebanese Maronite Catholics. The prettiest girl of my school days was one. There seem to be many police informants among Arabic speakers here, because police always get tipped off of anything suspicious, as recently as 2 days ago when our 'swat teams' (we call 'tacticals') interrupted a bunch of swarthy guys, seemingly headed for Bondi.

The problem with Sunday's perp, the old guy from Hyderabad, is the Arabic folks would not have known much about him to dob him in. That part of India speaks 'Telegu', a weird rare language, no 'community' here to report on him. His Italian wife even kept in the dark.

Afghan Muslim camel-drivers were brought in long ago to cross the deserts before there were roads, they intermarried with Aborigines some of whom still carry on the religion. Just saying it's more complex here than outsiders can imagine, stereotypes are just that. We even have the 'world's largest Muslim country' Indonesia just a sailboat ride away to our north. We need to do a balancing act in reality.

But yes, Albo reaches for the cargo-cult of 'gun control', in effect penalising farmers and professional hunters for the acts of a criminal.

  4. PS, those Bondi end--of-year official events are a recent thing mostly introduced for crowd-control I reckon. Hundreds of mostly British young folks have been gathering and drinking at the beach on New Year for a couple of decades getting rowdy. The planned 'celebrations' serve to distract them from 'anti-social behaviour'.
