Young Mike Wallace, before he became a pimp for the Left, advertising "Golden Fluffo". It just seems so...right.
Btw, I stumbled across this commercial while watching an episode of an old police procedural called Code Red. Since we retired, Mrs. Paco and I have had a lot of fun discovering (in some cases, rediscovering) TV shows from the fifties and early sixties: Code THREE (Note: I had originally typed "Code Red"), One Step Beyond, Ben Casey, and some of the anthology series that were so popular back in the day, such as Four Star Theater and Dick Powell's Zane Grey Theater. I really enjoy the anthology series because they feature stand-alone stories and some very well-known actors: Dick Powell, David Niven, Charles Boyer, Dan Duryea, Joan Crawford, Ida Lupino, Ronald Reagan, just to name a handful.
Ben Casey and Dr. Kildare were two of my favorite shows. I even had a Ben Casey tunic (they were sold in Penney’s or Sears, one of those).
ReplyDeleteI like Zane Grey Theater, another anthology series I like is Death Valley Days, they too have a lot of guest stars, Ronnie Raygun is the narrator and actor in quite a few. They have a few narrators, Ronnie, The Old Ranger, Robert Taylor and Dale Robertson of Tales of Wells Fargo fame.
ReplyDeleteI've never even heard of Code Red, I'll check it out.
Yeah, Death Valley Days was a good one. The only problem with some of these series is that sometimes the visual is kind of blurry, or the audio isn't great.
DeleteI wonder why anthology series aren't more popular today. Probably not enough good writing and acting.
