Happy Australia Day! (I believe it is Monday over there, now).
Gregory at The mind is an unexplored country has prepared a list of interesting Australian facts for our edification. Here's a particularly fascinating datum: "91% of the country is covered by native vegetation. Too much of the remainder is covered by idiot politicians."
So, have fun driving your Utes around in the bush, and try not to fall into a billabong!
I want to play the 840 mile golf course.
ReplyDeleteI've become much better with my driver.
What the heck is par?
DeleteI don't know, but I doubt I'd break 100. I'd probably be happy breaking 1,000.
DeleteInteresting stuff indeed.
ReplyDeleteI did not know that story about Tobruk. An excellent listen!
ReplyDeleteJeff, there's another quote from Rommel that is not verified, but fits with his recorded comments:
Delete"If I had to take hell, I would use the Australians to take it and the New Zealanders to hold it."
Thank you everyone for the good wishes! Regarding that golf course, a couple of online courses say that par is 72. That seems low to me.
ReplyDeleteAnd I have to confess that I did not compile that list. But I did add that line about the idiot pols.
ReplyDeleteValue adding, they call it.
