I used to love this stuff when I was a kid. Ma Paco rarely bought it, however; some silly nonsense about too much sugar being bad for you.
"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
Too much sugar is bad for you?!?!?!?!?
ReplyDeleteI never knew that!!!!!!!
Yeah, go figure.
DeleteI never liked sugary cereals when a kid. Very much preferred "boring" ones, like Chex or Grape Nuts (and still would like an explanation why there are neither grapes nor nuts in them) or Rice Crispies or Shredded Wheat.
ReplyDeleteIn the early Seventies I discovered granola and thought it was swell!
Did you like Life? When it came along, I turned into 'Mikey, who doesn't like anything!' I still like it, and buy it sometimes along with a few others I like now. I think it started me on the move away from overly sugared cereals.
DeleteI can’t remember eating any cereal but Raisin Bran and shredded wheat, but my mother usually insisted on scrambled eggs and bacon. She did, however, feed my sister and me butter sandwiches sprinkled with sugar when she wanted to shut us up.
ReplyDeleteI still eat that stuff.
ReplyDeleteI'll have half a box or more for dinner.
Sure, it's probably not just sugar and fat with some flour to hold it together anymore, but I still like it.
Later in life, I became a big fan of Rice Chex, and would sometimes just eat it out of the box as a snack.
ReplyDeleteThey used to be called Sugar Frosties here, when I was a kid. Now they're just Frosties. That makes them fifty percent more healthy, right?
ReplyDeleteHere's an old ad featuring Australians faking English and American accents. And Smokey Dawson on the box. Tony showed up eventually.
Uhhh.... HERE is the ad.
